We'd like to thank the Drosophila Board (a.k.a. "Fly Board") for awarding the Bloomington Drosophila Stock Center with the 2024 Community Service Award. We are incredibly grateful and humbled that the efforts of our 83 stockkeeping staff, seven managers and scientist, and six principal investigators have been recognized as contributing to "the depth and diversity of efforts supporting" the fly community.

Bloomington is in the path of totality for the solar eclipse on April 8 (!!).  In anticipation of a large influx of visitors on campus, Indiana University has requested that all non-essential activities scheduled for April 8 be postponed. We will therefore process Monday, April 8's order on Tuesday, April 9 instead. See more . . .

Due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, the order that would normally be processed on Monday, January 15 will instead be processed on Tuesday, January 16. See more . . .

As part of the first major revision of U.S. Department of Agriculture regulations on the shipment of transgenic organisms in many years, most transgenic Drosophila melanogaster stocks were specifically exempted from import permits and interstate movement permits. See more . . .

Due to the U.S. holiday Labor Day on Monday, September 2, our normal packing day will be moved to Tuesday, September 8. As a result, orders and quotes will be sent on September 8th.

Due to extreme heat in the much of the USA, postal shipments that would normally go out Friday July 19, will instead ship out on Monday July 22. 

In observation of the U.S. holiday Memorial Day on Monday, May 27th, our normal packing day will be moved to Tuesday, May 28, 2019. As a result, orders and quotes will be sent on May 28th.

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Kathy Matthews, long-time director and co-founder of the Bloomington Drosophila Stock Center. Under her stewardship, the BDSC grew into an internationally recognized community resource for fly research. Her wisdom, common sense and steady presence will be sorely missed.
