Bitbow stocks

Multispectral labeling to differentiate neighboring cells or lineages is important for mapping neural lineages, studying neuronal morphology and revealing neural network patterns. The Bitbow construct consists of five spectrally distinct FPs separated by five pairs of reversely positioned orthogonal FRT sites. Upon FLP induced recombination, the FP’s ORF may spin to the forward direction for GAL4 driven expression. These stochastic inversions make it possible to generate 31 Bitbow color codes with a single Bitbow1 transgene (Li et al., 2021).
