Voltron and Voltron2 are genetically encoded voltage indicators (GEVIs) that utilize photostable synthetic dyes rather than fluorescent proteins to report neuronal activity. Use of synthetic dyes can extend imaging time over tenfold relative to GEVIs that use fluorescent proteins.
Voltron2 is a variant of Voltron. It carries amino acid change A122D and shows an approximately 3-fold increase in sensitivity with lower baseline fluorescence. For Voltron and Voltron2 details and methods, see Abdelfattah et al., 2018 and Abdelfattah et al., 2022.
We have Voltron and Voltron2 transgenes under the control of UAS or lexAop.
