RNAi lines for genes starting with N to Z are listed here. Most, but not all, of the insertions are under the control of UAS and therefore require GAL4 for expression.
Basic VALIUM vector information (for specifics, please see the TRiP site):
1. VALIUM1 - these are the "weakest" and very likely require the inclusion of UAS -Dicer2 for maximum effect.
2. VALIUM10 - UAS-Dicer2 likely not needed; works well in the soma but usually not as well as VALIUM20.
3. VALIUM20 - UAS-Dicer2 not needed as they use shRNAs; usually gives stronger effects than VALIUM10 in the soma; also works well in the germline.
4. VALIUM21 and VALIUM22 - UAS-Dicer2 not needed as they use shRNAs; both contain a P transposase basal promoter and a K10 polyA for germline expression. These do not work well, if at all, in the soma.
We provide links in the table below to the TRiP RNAi Stock Validation and Phenotypes (RSVP ) site, which assembles and displays information about most RNAi lines (including those from the VDRC). Information on this site comes from a variety of resources, including the fly community and we encourage everyone to submit their own data and experiences, be it that a line works or doesn't work, to this site. To contribute, just click on the RSVP link for the line and scroll down to the "Community Input" form. For more information or to find out how to contribute information in bulk, please see the RSVP submission page.
Wolbachia status - Be aware that Wolbachia is present in the TRiP collection. We don't know what percentage of the collection carries Wolbachia but you should check the status of your particular stock if the presence or absence of Wolbachia might affect your results. See our "Fly culture" page for more information on Wolbachia.
** Some dsRNAs/shRNAs target more than one gene. The "# Targets" column indicates how many targets the transgene is thought to hit. To see other targets, either filter for the stock number or click the stock number to see the stock report.
