Stocks for localizing specific RNA transcripts

The following stocks contain transgenes that express tagged proteins that bind specific RNA sequences. They may be used to localize mRNA transcripts intracellularly.

The most common protein is the bacteriophage coat protein MCP. It binds the MS2 stem–loop sequence, which can be introduced into the transcribed sequences of genes.

Similarly, transgenes expressing the the PCP RNA-binding protein may be used to detect mRNA transcripts incorporating the PP7 hairpin loop.

The following stocks contain transgenes expressing MS2-tagged mRNA transcripts.

Stocks for isolating all newly synthesized mRNA or all mRNA bound to ribosomes in specific cells are listed at Stocks for isolating RNA from specific cells.
