Genetic background of the Bloomington duplications

We took considerable care to preserve the genetic background of the DrosDel insertion stocks in generating the Dp(1;Y) stocks. Chromosomes necessary for the stock constructions and screens were substituted into the DrosDel standard background. In the final stocks, the second and third chromosomes and the distal X chromosomal regions of the Dp(1;Y) chromosomes are derived from the DrosDel standard background. The proximal regions of the Dp(1;Y) chromosomes, the Y chromosome and the winscy X chromosome are derived from other stocks. The fourth chromosomes were not tracked and may be of mixed origin. A close examination of the figures in Constructing the duplication progenitor chromosomes will show the origins of the X and Y segments of the Dp(1;Y) chromosomes.
