Renewing an existing Plant Protection and Quarantine import permit

The process of renewing an existing PPQ import permit is straightforward if the original application was made through the e-permits system.

  1. Go to Permits Log In page.
  2. On eAuthentication page, type in your User ID and Password.
  3. On "Welcome to ePermits" page, click "Create/Renew/Amend Application".
  4. On "Choose Program Offices", choose "Plant Protection and Quarantine" and click "Continue".
  5. On "Choose Application types for PPQ" page, choose "PPQ 526 Permit to Move Live Plant Pests, Biological Control Agents, Bees, Parasitic Plants, Federal Noxious Weeds, or Soil" and click "Continue'.
  6. On the "Select Agent Confirmation' page, choose "No. This is NOT an application to move or import select agents" and then click "Continue".
  7. On the "Specify Application Type" page, select "Renewal without changes" if you're happy with the permit that is expiring or "Renewal with changes" if you want to modify it. Select your permit by number from the "Select Permit" drop-down menu. Click "Continue".
  8. From here, the process is self-explanatory. Refer to Applying for a permit to import nontransgenic Drosophila melanogaster if you need to see how you filled out the forms when you initially applied for the permit.
