Downloadable stock lists and associated information

Here we provide links to downloadable comma separated value (.csv) files carrying stock data for use locally.

Important - please note that, as of 10/5/2018, the bloomington.csv has changed.  Some of the information formerly carried in the bloomington.csv is now carried in stockcomps_map_comments.csv.

1) bloomington.csv - This is the basic downloadable version of the BDSC stock list. It carries all currently available stocks.

  • Stk # - BDSC stock number
  • Genotype
  • Ch # all - all affected chromosomes
  • A.K.A. - 'Also Known As' (stock synonyms)
  • Date added - the date the stock was added to the collection
  • Donor info - names and affiliations of the person(s) who donated the stock
  • Stock comments - comments that pertain to the stock as a whole (comments pertaining to individual components within a stock can be found in stockcomps_map_comments.csv below)

3) stockcomps_map_comments.csv- Note, we define a component as an individual unit within a genotype such as an allele, insertion, deficiency, etc. For example, y[1] sc[*] v[1]; P{y[+t7.7] v[+t1.8]=TRiP.HMC03795}attP40 has four components; y[1], sc[*], v[1], and P{y[+t7.7] v[+t1.8]=TRiP.HMC03795}attP40.

This file carries mapping information and/or comment(s) for individual components as well as the stock number(s) and genotypes for stocks that carry those components. Be aware that in an effort to keep this file from being too unwieldy, ONLY components that have map data and/or comment data are included.

  • Stk # - BDSC stock number
  • Genotype
  • component_symbol - the FlyBase symbol for a component (only components with map data and/or comments are included)
  • fbid - the FlyBase identifier for the component
  • mapstatement - map information for the component
  • comment1 - component comment (usually a descriptive comment)
  • comment2 - additional comment (often a map comment)
  • comment3 - additional comment

In addition to the two downloads provided above, the following files are available upon request.

stockgenes.csv - This file carries stock numbers and genotypes with ALL associated components and their associated genes (this is big file with >328,000 records).

stockgenes_compgenes.csv - This file carries data describing the relationship between a component and a gene (the component carries sequences for RNAi of the gene, the component is inserted into the gene, the component carries regulatory sequences from the gene, etc).

stockgenes_compprops.csv - This file carries data pertaining to symbols and their attributes (viability, uses, tags etc). These attributes are mostly used to pull components and stocks onto specific stock browsing pages so this list is by no means meant to be exhaustive.
