Metabolism/Diabetes/Obesity

Metabolic dysfunction is associated with a wide variety of human disorders and health-related issues, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity. Many of the genes and tissues involved in energy homeostasis, carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, nutrient uptake and storage, and other basic metabolic functions are conserved in flies. Fly stocks in the Bloomington collection that can be used to study human metabolism and related diseases and conditions such as diabetes and obesity are listed here. Other metabolic diseases for which we currently have pages include Niemann-Pick disease and Neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis.

Jason Tennessen has generated a downloadable Excel spreadsheet of Drosophila genes predicted or known to function in metabolic pathways. Get the list here.
