A history of changes to the now retired Deficiency Kit, beginning in November of 1995, is summarized here. A detailed estimate (below) of the coverage of the deficiency kit was made in 1995. Maps drawn in proportion to euchromatic DNA content (one using the minimum breakpoint range for each deficiency, one using the maximum range -- we thank John Merriam for generating those maps) were used to estimate minimal and maximal coverage. Overall coverage was estimated at that time to be between 67% and 75% of the euchromatin.
